Term vs. permanent life insurance
What each kind is for, what it costs, and why most families start with term.
Term pays out if death happens within the term (10, 15, 20, 25, 30 years) at a flat premium. When the term ends, coverage stops or renews at higher rates. Best value for large payouts during family years.
Whole life and universal (and variants) last your whole life and build cash value inside. Much higher premiums than term for the same death benefit. Right for permanent situations: lifelong dependent care, estate settlement, company succession.
How to choose
Start with need; pick products second. Expiring needs (paid-off house, grown kids) suit term. Permanent needs (lifetime support, wealth building, succession) want permanent or term-with-conversion; most carriers allow switch from term→permanent without new medicals within their conversion window.
What people in Hesperia often do
Typical choice: 20- or 30-year term matching household obligations, updated if your world shifts. Keeps premiums low enough to afford adequate coverage right now. Susman Insurance Agency can discuss permanent options if permanent protection fits your situation.
