Health classes explained
Preferred Plus, Preferred, Standard Plus, Standard: the tiers and what moves you between them.
Carriers organize term life by rate tier. Names shift, but the ladder stays the same: Preferred Plus (Super Preferred or Preferred Best), Preferred, Standard Plus and Standard, plus table ratings for extra risk. Tobacco users have separate, higher tiers.
What underwriters look at
Frame (height/weight), blood pressure, cholesterol, family disease background, prescription use, work and activities, and tobacco.
How to use the quote tool
Your self-assessment on health translates as: Excellent receives Preferred Plus class, Very good receives Preferred, Good receives Standard Plus, and Average receives Standard. Your estimate reflects that class; the provider confirms the final class after underwriting. Unsure of your class? Gather quotes at two different classes to review, then allow underwriting to settle. Inflating your health won't reduce your ultimate price; it simply makes your estimate less precise.
Susman Insurance Agency identifies carriers whose underwriting rules fit your situation better, which often matters more than headline rate.
